“So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
Luke 12:21
From the Trib:
We're astonished McRaven isn't the most egregious offender; read the whole thing here. For college presidents and chancellors, it pays to work in Texas. The Chronicle of Higher Education on Sunday released its annual list of public university executive pay. Three of the nation's top four highest paid university presidents or chancellors work for Texas schools, according to the report.University of Houston System Chancellor Renu Khator earned the most in the country, making $1.3 million in total compensation. Texas A&M University President Michael K. Young came in third at $1.13 million and University of Texas System Chancellor Bill McRaven was fourth with $1.09 million.
It is embarrassing. I mean it is ok, that university staff gets high wages. Higher education is an exceptionally important sphere of economics but isn't that too much for the executives. Does this salary motivate them to work for long-term goals or rather to receive a quick success and bonuses. I was recently reading an article on paraphrasing tool related resources and understood that there is something certainly wrong with our education. Executives get their wage, while students engage in MOOCs, paraphrase their papers and struggle with unemployment. It seems that universities are living in some kind distinct reality.
