"Every one of the builders had his sword girded at his side as he built. And the one who sounded the trumpet was beside me."

It is interesting to note the gun shop owner runs CHL classes in there. Not surprising that he thinks people need to be forced to pay him in order to be licensed.
ReplyDeletePeople don't learn safety or handling or even how to shoot better in a CHL class, they learn the laws and pass a practical shooting test that any mediocre shooter can pass. I know because I was one of those mediocre shooters 5 years ago. I took it upon myself to improve, that is my personal responsibility and what every responsible gun owner should do. BUT someone that isn't into shooting and merely wants to fulfill the need of self-protection shouldn't be forced to pay such a tax, all they need to do is to be able to point and shoot safely.
Why should a low-income mother of some, who lives paycheck to paycheck be forced to chose between carrying legally (after sacrificing a lot of her meager paycheck on a CHL class and the application fees) and breaking the law out of necessity? Why should she risk being attacked on the way from her car by an angry ex or a would-be rapist instead of being able to buy a cheap serviceable gun and carrying it with her for protection without permission from a chl instructor?
Spot on!

A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body, and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.
