#TXLEGE: Socialized Education Industrial Complex continues protecting bureaucrats at the expense of teachers....

Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
1 Corinthians 15:33

The "Texas Association of School Boards" are a member of the socialized education complex's phalanx of taxpayer funded lobbyist groups; with a number of education related items on the call for this special session, we were struck by a particularly disingenuous claim they made the other day:
During a press conference with reporters, Gov. Abbott announced through legislation he’d like to give every Texas public school teacher a $1-thousand raise. But Dax Gonzalez with the Texas Association of School Boards says without any new state funds added to that directive, schools would be essentially using existing local resources to afford that raise.

“Trying to squeeze an extra thousand dollars per employee, per teacher, out of a budget that already is 85-percent personnel salaries, you’re really asking districts to go beyond where many I think can,” Gonzalez says.
Let's parse Mr. Gonzalez's statement: You'll notice he said "personnel salaries" not 'teacher salaries.'

In other words, Mr. Gonzalez is deliberately obfuscating the difference between teachers and bureaucrats; consider the difference in the growth rates of the two groups over the past 20 years:

Bottom Line: That they're playing this dirty this early tells you everything you need to know about how threatened they feel.

  1. The administrator-to-teacher ratio has been rising in every state I have lived for the past 35 years (NJ,CA,TX,NC). I'll see the governor's bet and raise the number to $2000/teacher. Now where can we find those funds without increasing taxes? Hmmmmmmmmm....
