"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
1 Timothy 6:10
Well...this was not hard to find:
A year ago, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents gave reluctant approval to a 6 percent tuition increase for the 2007-08 academic year, vowing to try to better balance this year’s budget to avoid another sizeable increase. The article goes on to describe various examples of silly spending under Milliken's watch, for which he offered vague excuses combined with opposition to basic cost controls.
Friday, the board will set 2008-09 tuition rates.
And despite the board’s intentions, it’s all but fact an increase looms: The budget isn’t yet balanced, and NU President J.B. Milliken has recommended a 6 percent increase.
The recommendation surely will prompt debate among regents, but if past years are any indication, the board is likely to ultimately give Milliken’s recommendation a thumbs-up.
Bottom Line: The more things change....
