Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.  Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them.  They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat;  for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. Keep Standing Strong Barbara Cargill!!!

Donna Garner has an excellent rebuttal to the latest rubbish the Texas "Freedom" Network:

TFN is vilifying Cargill because TFN wants publishers to ignore the new Science curriculum standards (TEKS) adopted by the elected members of the SBOE. Nobody knows those Science TEKS any better than does Barbara Cargill because she poured her sweat equity into them for two years during the time they were under adoption.

Barbara Cargill is a certified science teacher, taught high-school biology in the Texas public schools for years, and conducts a nationally recognized science camp in the summer to which thousands of children come. The camp is so successful that children have to sign up early to get their names on the list.

Just as in the past where SBOE members have had special expertise in various content areas, these Members have tried to make sure that the textbook review teams follow the SBOE-adopted TEKS. That is state law. Instructional materials (IM’s) which pass through the SBOE adoption process must follow Texas’ curriculum standards (TEKS), and all teachers in Texas are to follow the TEKS.

We Texas citizens want Barbara Cargill to be closely involved with the Science IM’s. SBOE members serve the people of Texas without receiving any remuneration. If these members take their valuable personal time to meet with the textbook review teams, we Texans should be grateful. We should thank Barbara Cargill and the other SBOE members for their dedication to making sure that the IM’s are sufficiently aligned with the Science TEKS.

Textbook evaluation teams work in public settings; nothing is done behind closed doors. All SBOE members are invited to attend the meetings and to communicate openly with the evaluation team members. Barbara Cargill is not a vendor nor is she a lobbyist.

At our reviewers’ meeting on July 31, Barbara Cargill (Chair of the SBOE) was active in making sure that Proclamation 14 was carried out correctly and efficiently. She and the TEA staffers went to almost every reviewer’s table to introduce themselves and to thank them for volunteering their time; all seemed grateful for the kind words. There were 3 tables of biology reviewers while there were only 1 to 2 tables for the other IM products.

The process that was used this time was very different from the one used in the past. Before SB 6, there were two lists – conforming and nonconforming. Conforming IM’s had to cover 100% of the TEKS for the subject and grade level; nonconforming IM’s had to cover at least 50% of the TEKS for the subject and grade level. However, because of SB 6, now IM’s only have to cover 50% of the TEKS.

In light of all of the changes to the process, Cargill had asked panel members what they thought of reviewing the materials virtually (in Phase I) as opposed to face-to-face. Of course most would rather have had face-to-face meetings from the beginning, but the cost was prohibitive.

Texas Primary Election Quick Takes

Last night, we (finally!) had the Texas Primary election.  These are my quick takes:

• Donna Campbell extends SD-25 race into runoff -- This is probably, besides Ted Cruz's race, the biggest Tea Party victory from last night.  Getting Dr. Donna Campbell into the run-off means that we have a SPECTACULAR Conservative (who, full disclosure, I've met several times) going head to head with the most liberal Republican in the Texas Senate.  This race, by itself, has the potential to shift the Texas Senate DRAMATICALLY to the right.  If you were frustrated last session with the Senate's abdication on the Sanctuary Cities Bill and the TSA anti-groping bill, then donate to Dr. Donna Campbell.  District 25 covers the area between Austin and San Antonio; if you live in either city, it's easy to help Dr. Donna Campbell.

• The Utter Collapse of Texas Democrats -- In 2008, 168,669 people voted in the Democrat Party primary in Travis County.  In 2012, it was down to 42,399.  Last night, the local Fox station had the numbers for the top 15 counties in Texas.  I can't find the stats online, but it's even worse than in Travis County.  Now, obviously, the Dems had a big Presidential Primary in 2008, but lack of a Presidential Primary doesn't explain this.  Ouch, just ouch.

• Joe Straus has been Neutered -- Unfortunately, Joe Straus won his primary.  Fortunately, his Lieutenants were annihilated.  He's already facing a challenge for the speaker's gavel.  Straus is done; he'll retire at the end of next session

• Ron Paul only won 12% -- Pathetic.  More on this shortly. Stay tuned

• Mitt Romney won 69% -- Considering that the primary is over, I'm surprised there weren't more protest votes.  Republicans are unified behind Mitt.

• Ken Mercer's Big Win -- Ken Mercer, of the Texas Board of Education, has been a champion for those of us who sought to Restore God, Teach Accurate History, and offer alternatives to Darwinism in Texas Schools.  For that, he's come under unceasing attacks from the left.  Last night, he won his primary with 70%.

• South Texas Voter Fraud Continues -- The more things change....

While the national media is, naturally, focusing on the Ted Cruz race; last night was a step in the right direction, albeit a modest one.  It's not the knockout blow against the establishment I'd hoped it would be; but it's good enough.  We've proven our ability to impact Texas House races.  When Donna Campbell wins, we'll re-shape the Texas senate.  In 2014, we need to start winning U.S. House races.  That being said, we've got a good crop of people heading to Austin next year and, assuming Ted wins the run-off, we're sending an awesome new Senator to Washington.

In 2013, we'll be watching....

• Who is using the force of government to corrupt a definition of marriage that has existed for Millenia?!? The Left.

• Who is going around forcing people to tear down crosses at Military Cemeteries?!? The Left.

• Who has used government funded sex education to teach perversion to impressionable children in Public Schools?!? The Left

• Who made Marijuana illegal?!?  The Left.

• Who is Mandating that Christian organizations violate the Sixth Commandment?!?  The Left

• Who is slowly making smoking tobacco illegal?!?  The Left.

I could go on, but the point is that the left is ALWAYS the aggressor in the culture war and the only thing Christians ever do is play defense.
