On Wednesday, the state’s Austin-based 3rd Court of Appeals assigned three justices to the case. In theory, they could rule in 21 days — meaning June 22 at the earliest — but rulings typically take longer.

The three-judge panel consists of Chief Justice Jeff L. Rose and Justices Bob Pemberton and Cindy Olson Bourland. Briefs have already been filed, and there will be no oral arguments.
