Cultural Marxism and the Origins of 'Modern' Sexual Morality

This fantastic video outlines how an obscure group of 1930's Marxist intellectuals bequeathed to America our allegedly modern notions of sexual morality:

Welcoming Brietbart Sports

This morning, Breitbart.com announced the addition of Breitbart Sports to the Breitbart family; this is a welcome development in the culture war.

Sports media is a primary transmission mechanism for what Andrew called 'liberalism by osmosis,' where a generally apolitical population receives Marxism in small, subtle, doses that shifts public opinion over time.

The best way to illustrate this phenomenon is with an example from my personal life.  Back in 2008, I was looking at polling data from that election with ESPN playing in the background.  I was trying to understand why public opinion had shifted so dramatically against Sarah Palin when, on cue, the ESPN anchors chimed in with back-to-back-to-back 'Sarah Palin is stupid' jokes.  People who didn't follow the news got their view of Sarah Palin shaped by ESPN.  That moment was my personal epiphany, but the insidious role of sports media is obvious to anyone paying attention.

Since 2008, it's gotten worse.  From denigrating Tim Tebow's faith, to Bob Costas' recent endorsement of gun-grabbing, sports media's influence on our culture is undeniable.  It's long past time to hold sports media accountable.

In the short term, this means getting in front of this phony NFL-concussion 'issue.'  Lawsuits are here, and the sports media will help turn this into a boondoggle for trial lawyers.  Bullcrap.  Most NFL players who go broke do so through their own stupidity.  The coming cultural kerfuffle over NFL concussions is a fight we can win.

Culture is upstream of politics, and sports is often at the front line of culture; this is a shrewd move by the Brietbart crew.

Update: Talk about God's perfect sense of timing.  About two hours after I posted this, I'm watching Ken Burns' The Tenth Inning on MLB Network.  Who is doing the commentary for this documentary?!?  Keith Olbermann, Bob Costas, and Chris Rock are talking about 'economic pressures' as an excuse for steroids.  Textbook example.

Mission #2: The Sexual Counterrevolution

"he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance." Proverbs 29:3 

Since Tuesday night, a lot of ink has been spilled about how voters chose free stuff in servitude over self-reliance in freedom; Rush said it best when he said "people voted for Santa Claus."

That description is true, as far as it goes, but it misses the core.  Free stuff is the symptom, promiscuity is the disease.  People voted to maintain their sex lives.

Since the dawn of time, Utopians have used free love as a recruiting tool.  For obvious reasons, consequence free sex with multiple partners (of either gender) makes Heaven on Earth an easy sell.  As I wrote back in June, this was a deliberate strategy of Obama's Marxist fore-bearers.

But it gets worse: Sexual Promiscuity is very, very expensive (*).  That's where free stuff comes into play.  Chasing the sexual utopian dragon has many direct costs, but the most evil and insidious opportunity cost of sexual utopianism is that it undermines the discipline necessary to delay gratification.  Capitalism is based on delayed gratification.  Unfortunately, you will never sell delayed gratification and patient acquisition to a population obsessed with its next orgasm.

That's why America desperately needs a sexual counterrevolution.  The sexual revolution was a direct antecedent to the dumbing down of America's population.  We won't be able to reverse the dumbing down until we reverse the sexual revolution; that reversal needs to come from our churches, culture, and media.

Here's why there's hope: what Marxists will never tell you is that while yes, promiscuity can lead to lots of sex, most of that sex is bad.  As someone who grew up around leftists, and as a repentant little whore myself, I cannot overemphasize how much time liberals spend complaining about bad sex.  By contrast, married conservative Christians have the best sex.  Leftists might be able to muddy the waters on gross diseases and poorly timed conceptions, but they can't defend bad sex.

Book Review: Eros and Civilization, by Herbert Marcuse

This book sucked, I really hated it.

Unfortunately, if you want to understand why today's teenagers and twenty-somethings are sooooooo stupid, Eros and Civilization is unavoidable.  Herbert Marcuse is a Godfather of today's debased culture.  While Marcuse's prose is poorly written and almost incoherent, his conclusion is terrifyingly accurate: Sexual Licence makes all forms of Utopianism an easy sell.

Utopians have used Sex to promote their evil schemes since the dawn of time.  In biblical times, Jezebel use sexual licence to convince King Ahab to subsidize the enemies of God (sidenote: Times NEVER Change).  The French Revolution is notorious for HORRID acts of sexual depravity.  In just the past year, we've heard about people going to Occupy Wall St. to get laid.

Herbert Marcuse, once you penetrate his incoherent ramblings, sought to use sex to reshape American culture.  While Marcuse never states his ultimate goal, in general it's a Marxist and Pagan scheme to create Heaven on Earth.  Marcuse channels Franklin Roosevelt to redefine freedom as "to live without anxiety (150)."  Since morality creates anxiety, for Marcuse man "is free only where he is free from constraint, external and internal, physical and moral -- when he is constrained neither by law nor by need (187)."  Predictably, Marcuse is not a fan of Judeo-Christian values, or traditional nuclear families.

Marcuse's primary strategy is to remove taboos against sexual perversion, making physical sensation the primary objective of human existence:

the perversions uphold sexuality as an end in itself; they place themselves outside the dominion of the performance principle and challenge its very foundation.  They establish libidinal relationships relationships which society must ostracize because they threaten to reverse the process of civilization....Moreover, licence in the practice of perversions would endanger the orderly reproduction not only of labor power but perhaps even of mankind itself. (50-1)

That quote speaks for itself.

This is evil stuff.  Unlike most Utopians, who advocate force, Marcuse advocates sexual temptation to undermine our better angels.  According to Marcuse, the human body would

 [N]o longer be used as a full time instrument of labor, the body would be resexualized....The body in its entirety would become an object of cathexis, a thing to be enjoyed -- an instrument of pleasure.  This change in the value of and scope of libidinal relations would lead to a disintegration of the institutions in which the private interpersonal relations have been organized, particularly the monogamic and patriarchal family. (201)

 That, of course, was the original Marxist goal.

As I've written before: "Cultural Marxists use sex as a smokescreen to sabotage the discipline necessary to delay gratification."  Sexual licence ALWAYS begets chaos.  Once chaos ensues, Utopians know they can lead people to Marxism and Paganism.

Free Love is an easy sell to ignorant people.  That's why evil people use sex as a smokescreen to advance their agenda, which is usually some form of Marxism or Paganism.  Eros and Civilization, in spite of the fact it's a poorly written incoherent slog, is a necessary step to decode that agenda.

Chris Hayes Shouldn't Have Apologized

This weekend, Chris Hayes let slip a classic Kinsely gaffe on MSNBC:



I know other conservatives disagree, but I say good for Chris Hayes.  Usually, liberals try to hide what they really think; Chris Hayes didn't.  For being honest, Chris Hayes is the anti-Obama.

Conservatives should be happy anytime the Left reveals the truth about itself.  Most liberals agree with Bill Ayres, they're just not willing to say so openly.  Liberalism is, by definition, anti-biblical, anti-capitalist, and anti-military.  When honestly presented, liberalism repels decent God-fearing Americans.

Chris Hayes is on record opposing The Bible.  Chris Hayes is on record Opposing Free Enterprise.  Why is anyone surprised that he also opposes our troops?!?  Nothing is more infuriating than listening to liberals pretend to care about our troops.  If Chris Hayes believes that the United States military is populated by baby-killing, inbred, Christian zealots then he should say so.

Why We Need to Dismantle the Agriculture Department

Today, in discussing this story, Rush made the following point:

But I'm gonna tell you what's gonna happen. This is as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning and setting in the evening. All these organic food people are eventually going to become conservatives, because what's happening now is the government is figuring out that these organic food places exist, and that they're outside the regulatory process, and they're outside the tax- and-fee structure. And that can't stand. So what's gonna happen is the cities where these people operate and the state they operate, and the Feds are gonna get involved they're gonna start regulating this stuff eventually. They're gonna regulate what your free range chicken is given to eat.

Rush got me thinking about Agriculture Policy, and the basic existence of a U.S. Government Department of Agriculture scares me. There are lots of economic arguments against subsidizing agriculture (starting with the fact that's it a corporate welfare boondoggle), but the core issue is who controls land and the production of food.

Whenever Communists come to power, they seize control of land and food production.  Stalin did it.  Mao did it.  Fidel Castro did it.  Obviously, the U.S. Government hasn't (yet) seized farmland; but the infrastructure is there.  At this point, I've read enough Marxism, and seen enough things I thought impossible actually happen, that I can't put ANYTHING past this government.  After this government's assault on Chrysler do you really trust them with land and food?!?

As I've discussed before, Obama (and the New Left's) goal was "a long march through the institutions."  A federal Agriculture Department that controls food and land is a tool they can use in that march.  The 2010 Shirley Sherrod scandal proved that the Agriculture Department is already populated with Communists.  Whether or not some of the conspiracy theories are true, the fact that a U.S. Government Agriculture Department exists in the first place threatens every landowner in the country.  Given everything we've learned about Marxism via stealth, we need to dismantle the tools they can use in the future.

The Perils of Sexual Self-Identification

The recent flare-up of the homosexual 'marriage' debate, following on the heels of the phony 'War on Women,' brings into the political sphere something that bothers me about our culture.  Far too many of us elevate our sex life into the core of our being; whether you call yourself a homosexual, a slut feminist, or a pick-up artist, the effect is the same.  It's VERY dangerous; sex is NOT supposed to be the core of who you are as a person.

Once sex becomes your primary area of self-identification, you've already lost; a good sex life is the byproduct of a good life in general.  Even in our screwed-up culture, people notorious for their sexual antics are known primarily for their accomplishments in other areas: Tiger Woods is an athlete, Motley Crue are rock stars, heck Genghis Khan conquered half the World.

When you pursue the physical act as an end in itself, bad things happen.  I've said it before, I'll say it again: The Summer of Love (which wasn't all it was cracked up to be), and Woodstock (that either) is ALWAYS followed by the Manson Murders, Altamont, and Kent State.

At the beginning of his Evil Empire speech in 1983, Ronald Reagan asked:

Are we to believe that something so sacred can be looked upon as a purely physical thing with no potential for emotional and psychological harm?

While sex can be a fun, naughty, or taboo topic of conversation, people who talk about nothing but sex are just as tiresome as any other one trick pony.  I've never met a Christian who talks about Jesus as much as some so-called feminists talk about their vagina's.  Too put it in terms that even a three year old (or those of you in Rio Linda) can understand, ding-dongs and hoo-hoos are only one component of the human existence.

Why Marriage Matters

Since Obama's homosexual 'marriage' interview last week, there have been far too many people on our side who view the issue as a distraction from the economy.  They fail to understand that there are deeper forces at play.  Homosexual 'marriage' has nothing to do with homosexuality; it's a Trojan Horse for the left's final assault on the Church.

It troubles me the how many members of the Tea Party fail to appreciate the assault on the Church embedded in the Homosexual 'marriage' debate.  You already have people advocating to force Churches to perform homosexual 'weddings' in the United Kingdom.  Why, in the U.S., anybody would want to hand a weapon like homosexual 'marriage' to a government that is already forcing Churches to subsidize abortion baffles me.  Once homosexual 'marriage' is the law of the land, does anyone doubt that government censorship of the pulpit will shortly follow?!?

Giving the government this sort of a weapon to use against Churches is insane, just insane.

Andrew Breitbart: In Memoriam

I've been asked by several people to comment on the death of Andrew Breitbart.  I'll do my best.  Andrew Breitbart was an apostle of the third Great American Awakening.  Andrew Breitbart was a missionary of the new media.  We will miss him.

I met Andrew Breitbart one time, at Governor Perry's blogger summit in January 2010.  I always assumed our paths would cross again.  Sadly, that won't happen.  Several weeks after the January event, Governor Perry shared his impression of Andrew Breitbart.  I concur with Governor Perry when he said:

Andrew Breitbart, man, let me tell ya, WHAT A STUD!!!

To me, at least, Andrew Breitbart focused on America's core challenges; he didn't react to the news of the day.  Andrew Breitbart drove the news of the day.  Andrew Breitbart understood that America's corrupt culture and America's corrupt government are the natural result of America's corrupt media.  Furthermore, Andrew Breitbart understood that the influence of the entertainment media on America's culture is much more dangerous than the influence of the so-called 'news' media on the government.  Andrew Breitbart was committed to replacing both.

As someone who shares Andrew Breitbart's long term goals, I'm often asked if Andrew Breitbart was/is one of my heroes.  Hero is the wrong word; Andrew Breitbart wasn't a hero, Andrew Breitbart was a guide.  Andrew Breitbart was the guy seven steps ahead teaching the rest of us the most effective next step.  Andrew Breitbart might not have been Moses, but he was certainly a modern Joshua.

Andrew Breitbart's key insight was that our mission isn't (really) about politics.  Washington D.C. follows Hollywood.  Barack Obama would not be possible today without Antonio Gramsci and The Frankfurt School sixty years ago.  A nation obsessed with Jersey Shore and the Kardashians deserves Obamacare.

Hollywood is America's default cultural premise, and Hollywood is based on lies.  Unfortunately, because Hollywood is America's default cultural premise, Hollywood is the prism through which average Americans interpret the actions of our government.  Right now, truth is something you have to seek out; that cannot continue.  Truth must become our cultural foundation.  We have to replace Hollywood; entertainment competition competition is the key to America's soul.

Andrew Breitbart stood for Truth.  We have to restore that truth.  We have to restore the truth about God.  We have to restore the truth about History.  We have to restore the truth in our Culture.  We have to restore the truth about our Economy.  We have to restore the truth about our Government.  The truth can be terrifying, especially at first, but the lies will kill you.

Today, alongside news of Andrew Breitbart's death, you have government officials lying about Rush Limbaugh's comment regarding this Marxist Skank useful idiot.  This kerfuffle, of course, occurs against the backdrop of one of the greatest assaults on faith in American History.  Andrew Breitbart did the legwork to excoriate flawed premises like these, while exposing stories others ignored, and it gave him all the right enemies.  That's why Andrew Breitbart was one of three people (along with Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck) I trust in my personal quest for truth.

In 1968, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. said:

Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!

Like Rev. King, Andrew Breitbart had been to the top of the mountain.  Like Rev. King, Andrew Breitbart saw the promised land.  Like Rev. King, he will not get there with us; but, thanks to Andrew Breitbart, get there we shall.

We are in the earliest stages of the Third Great American Awakening.  A MIRACLE of truth is about to sweep this land.  When that miracle comes, we will owe it to the foundation Andrew Breitbart helped lay.
