District 8: Ellen Troxclair with a Puppy

"Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:28

Bill Powers Loses to Baylor

"For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,"
2 Timothy 3:2

Darell K Royal Memorial Stadium -- Today, the University of Texas Football team proved their worth to the lame duck university administration.  They lost.  28 - 7.

While the Longhorn defense and quarterback Tyrone Swoops did their job, they couldn't overcome three years of superior recruiting from Baylor.  The Longhorn offense couldn't move the ball no matter how hard they tried.  This website is shocked to learn they managed north of 100 yards.

While the Texas offense struggled and the defense did their job until they got tired in the second half, Baylor's offense executed their job with cold-blooded efficiency.  We don't like it.  But still, they pulled it off.

Despite the failures of management, the 'Horns underlings kept the game competitive until the fourth quarter:

But at least we got some cool pictures of Charlie Strong:

Even though David Ash was in the right place:

That being said, Bertha rox:

Uber and Lyft still illegal in Austin

"Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord,
But a just weight is His delight."
Proverbs 11:1

Seriously?!?

This lame duck city council CANNOT leave office quickly enough....

Austin City Council, District 3: Shaun Ireland Rebukes Minimum Wage Idiocy

"But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?"
Matthew 20:13-15

We attended the District 3 candidate forum the other night; this clip was the highlight of the event:

As we've discussed previously, this minimum wage nonsense is personal, so kudos to Shaun Ireland!!!

Battlground Texas, Dana Loesch, and Voter Fraud

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."
Ephesians 6:12-13

Bless their heart:

Highlights:
  • Dana asked a genuine question about the office of County Judge in Texas government.
    • Author's Note: For out of state readers, the position of County Judge is the chief executive of the county level of government; it's not a judicial position.
  • Dana will tutor Battleground in Texas election law.

Becoming Belle Knox (Part 1): I Googled How to Be a Porn Star

"While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage."
2 Peter 2:19

Last week, we said we would review the documentary Becoming Belle Knox.  We've watched the first episode and feel it's safe to share (although some of the blurred out porn images allow you to figure out what's going on).  Miram's unconvincing 'no regrets' attitude notwithstanding, the truth about the industry is impossible to conceal:

Highlights:
  • "Every dollar I make goes to tuition."
  • Porn industry has "given me back my sense of self."
    • Author's Note: You say that at 18, we'll see if you're singing the same tune at 25....
  • $4,300 in bills each month.
  • First website was called 'Facial Abuse'...Producer: "Kinda like talked me into it."
  • Her first scene: "It was like a really, really, really rough scene.  Like, I wasn't prepared for how rough it was.  And it was weird, like , having some random photographer basically watch me get my ass kicked on camera."

Patrick outperforms Abbott among Hispanics

"Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,"
Acts 4:29

Questionable methodology or not, the Lyceum poll released today had one interesting result:
The poll showed Davis, a state senator from Fort Worth, held a “clear lead” among Hispanics, by 36 points, and African Americans, by 80 points, while Abbott, the state attorney general, held a “slight lead” with independent voters, by 6 points, and women, by 2 points.

[Emphasis added.]
By comparison:
The poll showed that in the lieutenant governor's race, state Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston, was ahead of state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, D-San Antonio, by 14 percentage points, 47 percent to 33 percent. Van de Putte led with African Americans by 64 points and Hispanics by 24 points, but did not perform as well as Davis with either group.
In other words, for all of the alleged "harsh rhetoric" surrounding Patrick and the border, he's doing TWELVE POINTS better than Abbott among Hispanics.
