O'Keefe's San Antonio Election Fraud report raises many more questions than answers

• If the first woman she visited was voting for Lloyd Doggett (CD-35), why is someone working in the Castro/Garza district (CD-20) even talking to her?!?

• Rodriguez confesses to several known illegalities.

• Unidentified third party was filling out mail in ballots on behalf of the dead.

• "Mauro allowed me $2500 to buy gifts."

• What kind of IDIOT do you have to be to discuss any of this in a text message?!?

• If James O'Keefe thinks there's anything "new" about the "normal" of shady election practices in Texas, he needs to learn more about Lyndon Johnson.

Wow.

We should probably start out with a disclosure: We've met Mauro Garza a couple times.  Don't know him well, but we have met.  He's always struck this author as a bit of a patriotic simpleton. Certainly didn't see this coming.

Suffice to say: At a minimum, Racquel Rodriguez must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. To the extent that he had foreknowledge of her activities, Mauro Garza certainly should as well. Whether or not the Bexar county DA chooses to prosecute is another matter entirely.

That being said, the whole thing is bizarre. With some voters, she's helping them vote straight Democrat. With others, she wants them to vote Republican. Sometimes she's trying to faithfully execute the voter's choice, others she's actively trying to influence voters. Just odd.

Unfortunately, we now know (not that there was much doubt previously) why THE REPUBLICANS killed the election integrity bills last session. No, really, bang up job Stephanie Klick. You too Valoree Swanson.

Even if it doesn't always break down into a neat partisan narrative, the process as a whole couldn't be less trustworthy.

Bottom Line: There's a lot we don't know, but none of what we do know looks good.

On Wednesday, Project Veritas released this third video from the recent Texas investigation.  It revealed an Obamacare operative conspiring to use government data to help elect Celia Israel.  This has major implications for Travis County.

And the response from local Austin media is...nothing:

• KVUE (Local ABC Affiliate) - Nothing.

• KXAN (Local NBC Affiliate) - Nothing.

• KEYE (Local CBS Affiliate) - Nothing.

• Austin Post - Nothing.

• Austin-American Statesman - Nothing.

• Austin Chronicle - Nothing.

• To their credit, the local Fox affiliate HAS covered the story:

Local Austin media often does good work, but their silence (so far) on this HD-50 bombshell is disappointing.

The indefatigable Michael Quinn Sullivan catches one we missed:

Democrats in the Texas Senate successfully codified ObamaCare into state law with the aid of the GOP, expanding the power of the Texas Department of Insurance and legitimatizing the illegitimate healthcare “navigator” profession Texans now know is being used by liberals as a political tool.

Actively opposing the legislation during the legislative session was the Texas Conservative Coalition, a caucus of conservative House and Senate members. Texans for Fiscal Responsibility negatively rated the legislation on our Fiscal Responsibility Index because we saw it for what it was: an attempt to give state cover to a very bad idea.

Republicans who supported the legislation were led to believe SB 1795 would “regulate” the navigator profession and prevent them from being political operatives. Right… Never mind that the “navigators” are an illegitimate profession obviously designed by the Obama Administration to function as political operatives!

BOOK REVIEW: Breakthrough, by James O'Keefe

Over the past five years, no journalist has had a bigger impact than James O'Keefe.  From defunding ACORN, to helping to change laws, to forcing staff changes at major media organizations, Project Veritas gets results.  That's why the left despises O'Keefe.

Breakthrough is O'Keefe's memoir of Project Veritas' first half decade.  O'Keefe narrates the roller-coaster ride in riveting detail.  We were astonished how much action they'd seen in such a short time.

Long before Barack Obama made him a household name, O'Keefe was a student of Saul Alinsky (16). Prior to the ACORN sting, O'Keefe partnered with Lila Rose on the original Planned Parenthood operation.  The ACORN investigation, rather than being financed by nefarious 'billionaires', was put on O'Keefe's credit card:

My critics would later insist that right-wing billionaires had to be funding what would prove to be a remarkably successful sting on a notoriously corrupt organization, but they were profoundly wrong.  I was so broke that summer I had to hit up Stan for the gas and take a long route over the Chesapeake Bay to avoid paying tolls on I-95 through Baltimore. But enough money came in, the investigation moved forward, and the results speak for themselves:



Following the ACORN investigation his luck turned.  A botched operation in New Orleans (105-122) gave the Obama administration the pretense they needed to put the screws on O'Keefe, which they did.  The middle section of the book details O'Keefe's struggles with the Federal judicial system, which ultimately led to O'Keefe pleading to a minor misdemeanor and spending three years on Federal Probation.  During this time, O'Keefe could not leave the state of New Jersey without permission from the Federal government.

Breakthrough details more incidents than we can do justice with an online review.  The common thread is using unconventional means to discover truths powerful people would rather keep hidden.  Project Veritas' successes inevitably creates a backlash, where the powerful use government to intimidate citizen journalists.  The specifics vary, but the results move the ball forward.  Cahnman's Musings wholeheartedly recommends this insightful, provocative, thrilling, expose of James O'Keefe's Guerilla War to Expose Fraud and Save Democracy.
