SAEN proves our point about Morrow's campaign

"Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:"
Luke 18:9

Remember, a month and a half ago, when we pointed out how Robert Morrow's SBOE campaign has ended up serving an unintentionally useful function by forcing the education establishment to line up behind the type of conservative they would otherwise vehemently oppose?!?

San Antonio Express News editorial this morning:

After a lengthy tenure, Ken Mercer is leaving the state Board of Education. We tepidly recommend Lani Popp in the Republican runoff for this seat. This is mostly because we reject the other candidate, Robert Morrow. After a lengthy tenure, Ken Mercer is leaving the state Board of Education. We tepidly recommend Lani Popp in the Republican runoff for this seat. This is mostly because we reject the other candidate, Robert Morrow. Photo: Michael Minasi /Contributor In the Republican runoff for the District 5 seat on the State Board of Education, we give an extremely tepid recommendation to Lani Popp, a speech pathologist in the Northside Independent School District.

We have major disagreements with Popp on a number of issues, but there really is no choice in this race. Her opponent, Robert Morrow, the former chair of the 2016 Travis County Republican Party, is unqualified for any elected office. A crude provocateur, Morrow has said, if elected to the SBOE, he would advocate that a false conspiracy theory about President John F. Kennedy’s assassination be placed in Texas textbooks.
....

We vehemently disagree with Popp on these statements and viewpoints. Our recommendation of her is really a rejection of Morrow, who has no business serving on the SBOE.
We don't have a lot to add. It's kinda obvious how the SAEN editorial proves our original point. That being said, we find it amusing that the SAEN remains so far up Lyndon Johnson's posterior (48 years after his death), that they hide Morrow's views about what happened in Dallas behind the euphemism "false conspiracy theory."

Bottom Line: Control the options

David Barton Wins Million Dollar Defamation Lawsuit

"[R]ejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer"
Romans 12:12

Good for Barton:
David Barton is the founder of WallBuilders; he is is one of the foremost experts on early American history and has tens of thousands of original writings from the Founding Era (http://www.wallbuilders.com/abtbiodb.asp).

Mr. Barton and other history experts helped the SBOE to produce the most fact-based, patriotic curriculum standards in the entire United States. For instance, as part of the TEKS, Texas students are required to spend a week every year (K-12) studying the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence. The TEKS standards emphasize American exceptionalism while presenting a balanced view of history. Many American heroes and heroines of character and of color were added to the new Social Studies TEKS.

For his trouble, David Barton was vilified by the leftwing media and such organizations as Texas Freedom Network.

....

During the years that Ken Mercer has served on the SBOE, he has had a number of “questionable” challengers. Among them are Judy A. Jennings and Rebecca E. Bell-Metereau.

While these women were running against Mercer, they leaned heavily on Texas Freedom Network to provide them with campaign rhetoric; and they worked with Scott Garrison, a political consultant, to produce a campaign video. In it, they tried to discredit Ken Mercer by blasting David Barton and WallBuilders as being white supremacists.

Guess what…David Barton/WallBuilders has sued Jennings/Metereau for defamation of character. David Barton/WallBuilders won, and now Jennings/Metereau have to pay him and his WallBuilders $1,000,000! How is that for justice served?

I suspect the next move for Jennings/Metereau may be to counter-sue Texas Freedom Network/Scott Garrison for providing bogus information about David Barton/WallBuilders.

David Barton is anything but a white supremacist. He and other patriots just like him are battling to preserve America’s rich Judeo-Christian heritage so that this and the next generation will be willing to give their lives to preserve it.

....

It is very encouraging to know that “open season” on conservatives has its limits. Good for David Barton/WallBuilders!

Glenn Beck, Ken Mercer discuss latest Common Core "end run"

“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea."
Matthew 18:6

Yesterday, conservative SBOE warrior Ken Mercer appeared with Glenn Beck to discuss the latest attempt to backdoor Common Core into Texas:

Highlights:

  • Building Common Core into the A.P. exams.
  • Teaching "a very negative aspect about America."
  • WWII: Nothing about the Holocaust, just the Atomic bomb.
  • "They tell teachers you have flexibility to teach other things, but it's clear the flexibility won't be tested."
  • This year, 45,000 Texas High School students will take an exam based upon a curriculum that's illegal in Texas.

San Antonio at Ground Zero

The latest newsletter from Texas State Board of Education member Ken Mercer, whose district covers San Antonio:
Of particular concern, the non-discrimination ordinance, know as NDO, includes the new politically correct term “gender identity.”  Gender identity means “a gender-related identity, appearance, expression or behavior of an individual, regardless of the individual’s assigned sex at birth.”

Eighteen months ago, Liberty Counsel defended Natalie Johnson, a young African-American female employee of a San Antonio Macy’s store.  She was terminated for refusing to allow a male to have continued access to a female dressing room.  Even though Johnson cited her religious beliefs and values, Macy’s management claimed she discriminated against the biological male customer on the basis of gender identity.

Do city council members believe: “If he says he is woman, he is a woman and should be allowed access to female-only facilities?”  If the NDO passes, child molesters and sexual deviants will love this ordinance.

By the way, there is a new gender identity being promoted by the far left defined as Minor Attracted Persons (MAP).  MAP supporters believe it is politically incorrect to use terms such as “child molester,” “pedophile,” “child predator,” or “pervert.”  Instead MAP’s goal is to normalize and decriminalize pedophilia.  May God help our children.

....

If the ordinance passes, San Antonio will have to issue a special “travel advisory” to parents of junior-high daughters who come here to participate in volleyball or basketball tournaments:

“Warning: Biological males with gender identify issues will be
allowed in the girls’ bathroom, locker rooms, and/or showers.”
 .....

Again, the words of the NDO may change, but the original intent is clear, it is terribly discriminatory, criminalizing religious beliefs.  This is a direct attack on religion and upon men and women of faith who believe in traditional marriage who, under this ordinance, would be branded as “haters.”

The NDO is an outrageous attack on religious freedom – a freedom which is guaranteed by our United States Constitution.  Let me close with this statement from United States Senator Ted Cruz:

“Any attempt to bar an individual from public service based on a personal religious conviction is contrary to the liberties guaranteed us under our Constitution and should be emphatically opposed. It is encouraging to see so many Texans standing up to defend their religious freedoms in light of the misguided proposal put forth by the local city council.”
