Chip Roy will LOSE if he campaigns against "Hollywood and Manhattan elites"
"that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,"
Ephesians 4:14
It's not a secret that Wendy Davis is probably running against Chip Roy; unfortunately, Chip's opening salvo is depressing beyond words:
This is an idiotic strategy that is doomed to fail.
NOBODY. CARES.
Or at least: No swing voter or soft partisan in CD-21 cares. CD-21 is Austin, San Antonio, and the Hill Country. Swing voters/Soft partisans in CD-21 are the type of people who travel to places like New York City and Southern California. They might not like the policies of those places, but they will roll their eyes at this sort of nonsense.
Campaigning against "Hollywood" is intellectually-lazy claptrap. It's a dying playbook. We strongly suspect that, in Austin, San Antonio, and the Hill Country, it's already dead. If anything, it will produce negative returns.
Bottom Line: This is the stupidest political attack since Ted Cruz's campaign went after hair dye....

WillCo Democrats Import Hollywood Liberal
Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
1 Corinthians 15:33
Yesterday, Jimmy Flannigan tweeted:
I'm not one that gets star-struck but Natalie Portman is standing between my and @MayorAdler signs at the campaign office of @mjhegar @BucyForTexas @karltm— Jimmy Flannigan (@JimmyFlannigan) October 25, 2018
But @statesman - that office is in Austin #atxd6, not Cedar Park! https://t.co/lps8IyBTmo
We had originally intended to rip on Jimmy for going to this event in the middle of the workday despite this ongoing water DEBACLE. But clicking through the Statesman link, it doesn't appear that he was there. So no harm, no foul, towards Jimmy (on this topic).
But this does beg another question: What the heck are the WillCo Democrats thinking?!?
It's not a secret that people can't stand being lectured about politics by celebrities. Yet that's how WillCo D's choose to present themselves. If you're wondering why John Carter will (probably) survive the midterm, this is a good example of why.
Y'all do realize this district includes Bell County, right?!?
Bottom Line: This is a good way to confirm every stereotype about Democrats in existence....

Wayne Christian's GLORIOUS response to Schwarzenegger's anti-Oil and Gas Lawsuit
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:28
By now, we assume you've heard about Arnold Schwarzenegger's dumb lawsuit against the energy industry; well, Wayne Christian's response is pretty epic....
A Hypocritical “Hero”By Railroad Commissioner Wayne ChristianArnold Schwarzenegger is undoubtedly best known for his legendary heroics on the silver screen. Covered in mud, he survives the Predator – killing it by exploiting its one weakness. As the Terminator, he protects John Connor from a homicidal shape-shifting machine to save humanity. An unhappy construction worker, he can’t remember who he is, but finally recalls and with his last breath saves thousands of lives by releasing air into the Martian atmosphere.
Like the character he played in Total Recall, Mr. Schwarzenegger must be having a tough time remembering who he is – a former Republican Governor.
In Austin for the South by Southwest festival, he revealed he has hired a team of California lawyers to sue oil and gas companies for “first degree murder” by “knowingly killing people all over the world.” Instead of acting like a Republican, Mr. Schwarzenegger must be trying to play the hero again. The only problem is this isn’t the movies, this is real life, and there is nothing to “save” us from.
Like many of us, Mr. Schwarzenegger had a long commute to work. After he was elected Governor of California, he decided not to move to the Governor’s Mansion at the state capitol in Sacramento, but instead traveled more than 100 miles for seven years from his mansion in Brentwood, Calif.. The only difference: he took a private jet, which cost around $30,000 a roundtrip and impacts the environment about the same amount as a small car does in three years. And when he’s not taking a private jet to work, he’s driving around in a five-ton,12-mile to the gallon Mercedes or going to lunch in a military-grade Hummer.
But now, according to the Governator it’s “absolutely irresponsible” for oil and gas companies to sell their products because they “know [their] product is killing people.” Wait a minute, here. So, it’s okay for oil and gas companies to sell their products to Mr. Schwarzenegger when he needs to fill up his private jet or Hummer, but it’s not okay for them to sell their products to regular folks so they can drive their vehicles to work? This kind of do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do hypocrisy is repulsive and offensive. Mr. Schwarzenegger is not a hero, he’s just another elitist Hollywood hypocrite telling you and me how to best live our lives.
The real heroes are the oil and gas workers – the landman, the roughneck, the petroleum engineer – who wake up every day and go to work to support their families and our way of life. Together, these workers produce around 10 million barrels of oil and 96 billion cubic feet of natural gas each day that fuel our cars, light our homes, and make plastics and many other items we use every day. The industry doesn’t just provide the raw materials to make the things we need – it creates jobs and grows our economy. In 2015, the oil and gas industry supported more than 10 million jobs in the United States with an average salary over $100,000 and contributes more than $1 trillion to our economy every year.
Despite what Mr. Schwarzenegger may think, the story of energy before oil and gas was simple – most work was done by human or animal muscle. This caused the vast majority of the population to live short lives of hard labor in extreme poverty. Before oil and gas were used to power the industrial revolution, the global average life expectancy was only 25 years old with 30 percent of children dying before age 15. During the 1800s, 80 to 90 percent of the population of the United States worked in agriculture and spent 74 percent of family income on food, clothing and shelter. Today, the average person lives more than three times longer than the average person in 1800. This is partly because climate-related deaths, such as starvation or hypothermia, have decreased 98 percent in the United States since the use of oil and gas became widespread at the beginning of the 20th Century.
It’s sad – but Mr. Schwarzenegger has gone from superstar hero to Hollywood hypocrite. On the one hand he routinely uses gas-guzzling jets and cars while on the other he sues oil and gas companies. Given this stunning hypocrisy, I have a question. If oil and gas companies are murderers for selling their product, does that make Mr. Schwarzenegger an accessory for being such a good customer?

History Lesson: When Mr. McRaven destroyed the bin Laden photos
"Can anyone hide himself in secret places,
So I shall not see him?” says the Lord;
“Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord."
Jeremiah 23:24
Pop quiz: Remember the 2011 controversy, shortly after the bin Laden raid, when President Obama refused to release the photos from UBL's death?!? Guess which currently serving University of Texas Chancellor ordered the destruction of those photos....
(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that on January 31, 2014, it received documents from the Department of Defense (Pentagon) revealing that within hours of its filing a May 13, 2011, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking photos of the deceased Osama bin Laden, U.S. Special Operations Commander, Admiral William McRaven ordered his subordinates to “destroy” any photos they may have had “immediately.” Judicial Watch had filed a FOIA request for the photos 11 days earlier.
The McRaven email, addressed to “Gentlemen,” instructs:
One particular item that I want to emphasize is photos; particularly UBLs remains. At this point – all photos should have been turned over to the CIA; if you still have them destroy them immediately or get them to the [redacted].
According to the Pentagon documents, McRaven sent his email on “Friday, May 13, 2011 5:09 PM.” The documents do not detail what documents, if any, were destroyed in response to the McRaven directive. The Judicial Watch FOIA lawsuit seeking the documents was filed in the United States Court for the District of Columbia only hours earlier. Judicial Watch also announced the filing at a morning press conference.
On May 2, Judicial Watch had filed a FOIA request with the Defense Department seeking “all photographs and/or video recordings of Usama (Osama) Bin Laden taken during and/or after the U.S. military operation in Pakistan on or about May 1, 2011.” Federal law contains broad prohibitions against the “concealment, removal, or mutilation generally” of government records.
More from Marine Corps Times:The records containing the McRaven “destroy them immediately” email were produced as a result of a June 7, 2013, FOIA request and a subsequent lawsuitagainst the Defense Department for records relating to reports of the 2011 McRaven purge directive. McRaven’s order was first mentioned at the end of a 2011 draft reportby the Pentagon’s inspector general (IG) examining whether the Obama administration gave special access to Hollywood executives planning the film “Zero Dark Thirty.” According the draft report, “ADM McRaven also directed that the names and photographs associated with the raid not be released. This effort included purging the combatant command’s system of all records related to the operation and providing these records to another Government Agency.” The reference to the document purge did not appear in the final IG report.
WASHINGTON — A newly-released email shows that 11 days after the killing of terror leader Osama bin Laden in 2011, the U.S. military’s top special operations officer ordered subordinates to destroy any photographs of the al-Qaida founder’s corpse or turn them over to the CIA.Read the original e-mail chain here.
The email was obtained under a freedom of information request by the conservative legal group Judicial Watch. The document, released Monday by the group, shows that Adm. William McRaven, who heads the U.S. Special Operations Command, told military officers on May 13, 2011, that photos of bin Laden’s remains should have been sent to the CIA or already destroyed. Bin Laden was killed by a special operations team in Pakistan on May 2, 2011.
McRaven’s order to purge the bin Laden material came 10 days after The Associated Press asked for the photos and other documents under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act. Typically, when a freedom of information request is filed to a government agency under the Federal Records Act, the agency is obliged to preserve the material sought — even if the agency later denies the request.
U.T. had to have known about this before they offered him the job.

Kevin Sorbo: God's Not Dead
He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly mistaken.”
Mark 12:27
During his recent California trip, Glenn Beck sat down with Kevin Sorbo:
Highlights:
- Freedom of speech seems to be going away in this country.
- I give scripts 20 pages, I read this one straight through.
- The movie is based on a number of court cases.
- I thought this was a great movie to start discussion.
- People don't normally sit through the closing credits.
- Hollywood is the only business that isn't a business.
- Noah proves Hollywood doesn't understand faith.

How to Leverage Miley Cyrus for Victory
Genesis 50:20
There's been plenty of ink about Miley Cyrus' VMA performance. It was disgraceful and sad reflection of the culture that re-elected Barack Obama. Instead of a dissertation on the problem, however, Cahnman's Musings proposes a solution.
Now is the time to cut your cable (if you haven't already done so).
Cable television is in long term decline, but the industry remains profitable; if you want to respond effectively to Sunday's events, help accelerate that decline.
It's not news that the 'commissars' of culture despise decency, the only question is why so many people continue to give them money.
The cable TV industry is a corrupt oligarchy. When they're not using your money to finance Miley Cyrus on MTV, they're forcing you to pay for Al Jazeera. The only way anything will ever change is if decent people stop giving them money.

Zero Hedge: Record Boom for People who Make Stuff Up
Priceless:
In what may be the most appropriate chart to summarize not only the entire US "recovery", the "all time high stock market" and the daily newsflow, we present the number of jobs for those in the motion picture and sound recording industries, i.e, those who "make stuff up." It just hit a record high. And with "circus" jobs at all time highs, we can only assume jobs for makers of bread, if the BLS actually broke it out, would be off the charts as well. We will just leave it at that.Make sure you click the link to see the chart!
Fortunately, the Texas Legislature is chasing this dragon.

Welcoming Brietbart Sports
This morning, Breitbart.com announced the addition of Breitbart Sports to the Breitbart family; this is a welcome development in the culture war.
Sports media is a primary transmission mechanism for what Andrew called 'liberalism by osmosis,' where a generally apolitical population receives Marxism in small, subtle, doses that shifts public opinion over time.
The best way to illustrate this phenomenon is with an example from my personal life. Back in 2008, I was looking at polling data from that election with ESPN playing in the background. I was trying to understand why public opinion had shifted so dramatically against Sarah Palin when, on cue, the ESPN anchors chimed in with back-to-back-to-back 'Sarah Palin is stupid' jokes. People who didn't follow the news got their view of Sarah Palin shaped by ESPN. That moment was my personal epiphany, but the insidious role of sports media is obvious to anyone paying attention.
Since 2008, it's gotten worse. From denigrating Tim Tebow's faith, to Bob Costas' recent endorsement of gun-grabbing, sports media's influence on our culture is undeniable. It's long past time to hold sports media accountable.
In the short term, this means getting in front of this phony NFL-concussion 'issue.' Lawsuits are here, and the sports media will help turn this into a boondoggle for trial lawyers. Bullcrap. Most NFL players who go broke do so through their own stupidity. The coming cultural kerfuffle over NFL concussions is a fight we can win.
Culture is upstream of politics, and sports is often at the front line of culture; this is a shrewd move by the Brietbart crew.
#WAR
Update: Talk about God's perfect sense of timing. About two hours after I posted this, I'm watching Ken Burns' The Tenth Inning on MLB Network. Who is doing the commentary for this documentary?!? Keith Olbermann, Bob Costas, and Chris Rock are talking about 'economic pressures' as an excuse for steroids. Textbook example.

Family Friendly Television Alert: The Original Transformers
Here at Cahnman's Musings, we echo the late Andrew Breitbart's belief that 'culture is upstream of politics.' We concur that if we change the culture, politics will take care of itself. In that spirit, Cahnman's Musings is pleased to report that we've recently rediscovered a 1980's television show that deserves commendation and support for it's dedication to a traditional moral foundation.
The original Transformers was a Saturday morning cartoon in the mid-1980's. Unlike the rotgut you see today, it sought to build upon the foundation of America's founding culture. The worldview of the show is surprisingly biblical.
Optimus Prime, at least as he's portrayed in the original cartoon, is a Christ-like figure. He unquestioningly does the right thing because it's his duty, and he's always humble instead of braggadocios in victory. Oh yeah, he also wins every time.
Where this show really gets fun, however, is the Decepticons. Just the fact that the bad guys in the show base their name around deception tells you everything you need to know about them. The Decepticons hide from the truth and distract, because that's the only way they can 'win.' But they never do win, because their greedy, selfish, wickedness is no match for the righteousness of the Autobots led by Optimus Prime. The Decepticons are also miserable.
In 2012, it's more important than ever to support entertainment that emerges from a Judeo-Christian worldview. There's precious little out there and what there is deserves commercial success. The original Transformers cartoon series from the mid-1980's does just that. Evil always loses, the Good Guys always win, and the good are humble in victory. This Christmas season, Cahnman's Musings wholeheartedly recommends the original Transformers.
Update: I've just been informed that you can get the Original Series streaming on Netflix.

Barack Obama's Heteronormative and Phallocentric attack ad
Heteronormative - The Cultural bias in favor of opposite-sex relationships of a sexual nature, and against same-sex relationships of a sexual nature.
Phallocentric - Centered on men or a male viewpoint, especially one held to entail the domination of women by men.
Yesterday, Barack Obama's campaign released the following ad:
Phallocentric - Centered on men or a male viewpoint, especially one held to entail the domination of women by men.
Yesterday, Barack Obama's campaign released the following ad:
Rush Limbaugh discussed this ad at length today. I offer dittos to everything Rush said. There is, however, one point Rush missed.
This misogynistic ad is heteronormative and phallocentric.
Why should this gal lose her 'v-card' to "a great guy;" couldn't a woman "care whether or not you get health insurance and specifically whether you get birth control"?!?
(That's voting card, you pervert.)
This misogynistic ad propagates the power structure of LGBT subjugation!!!
Or maybe it's Friday afternoon and I just wanted to use the phrase heteronormative and phallocentric! :-)

Actor Kal Penn spoke at the DNC last night; it's the single DUMBEST speech I've ever seen given at a political event:
Kal Penn is a moron. Anyone who takes this speech seriously is also a moron.

Movie Review: For Greater Glory
This movie was awesome; I can't believe Hollywood made it.
For Greater Glory tells the story of the Cristero Rebellion, a forgotten episode in World History. In 1924, a leftist government came to power in Mexico, then violently suppressed the Catholic Church. For Greater Glory tells the story of the Cristada resistance.
The Movie opens in 1926, during the Calles government. The first part of the movie details shutting down the churches, followed by the initial political resistance to the Calles regime. Unfortunately, the regime ignored the people, and continued to brutally suppress the Church. Armed resistance naturally followed.
The movie weaves together the personal stories of five main characters to tell the story of a Revolution. Andy Garcia plays General Enrique Gorostieta, a retired General who signs up to fight for freedom and comes to know God. Mauricio Kuri plays Jose, a young teenager who joins the Christadas after watching the regime brutalize his Village Priest. Victorino, a ranchero and Father Vega, a Priest must learn to set aside their differences in pursuit of a bigger goal. Catalina Sandino Morena played Adriana, who shows the role women played arming the rebellion and caring for the Freedom Fighters. While Eva Longoria appears briefly, she's not around long enough to say anything stupid.
The parallels between Mexico in the 1920's and contemporary America are obvious. Like Presidente Calles, the current American President is a demagogic Communist. Like Presidente Calles, the current American President cannot tolerate competing belief systems. While, unlike Presidente Calles, Barack Obama's weapon against the Church is likely to be the Health and Human services department instead of Federal Troops, the intention is identical. The Universal Truths of God are a threat to totalitarians everywhere.
For Greater Glory is the second film to come out this year, following Monumental (which I reviewed in March), that outlines the road-map for our cultural renewal. Where Monumental was instructive, For Greater Glory is illustrative. I have no idea who they had to bribe or blackmail to get Hollywood to make this movie, but I Thank the Lord that it did Happen.
For Greater Glory; it was friggin' awesome!!!

Andrew Breitbart: In Memoriam
I've been asked by several people to comment on the death of Andrew Breitbart. I'll do my best. Andrew Breitbart was an apostle of the third Great American Awakening. Andrew Breitbart was a missionary of the new media. We will miss him.
I met Andrew Breitbart one time, at Governor Perry's blogger summit in January 2010. I always assumed our paths would cross again. Sadly, that won't happen. Several weeks after the January event, Governor Perry shared his impression of Andrew Breitbart. I concur with Governor Perry when he said:
As someone who shares Andrew Breitbart's long term goals, I'm often asked if Andrew Breitbart was/is one of my heroes. Hero is the wrong word; Andrew Breitbart wasn't a hero, Andrew Breitbart was a guide. Andrew Breitbart was the guy seven steps ahead teaching the rest of us the most effective next step. Andrew Breitbart might not have been Moses, but he was certainly a modern Joshua.
Andrew Breitbart's key insight was that our mission isn't (really) about politics. Washington D.C. follows Hollywood. Barack Obama would not be possible today without Antonio Gramsci and The Frankfurt School sixty years ago. A nation obsessed with Jersey Shore and the Kardashians deserves Obamacare.
Hollywood is America's default cultural premise, and Hollywood is based on lies. Unfortunately, because Hollywood is America's default cultural premise, Hollywood is the prism through which average Americans interpret the actions of our government. Right now, truth is something you have to seek out; that cannot continue. Truth must become our cultural foundation. We have to replace Hollywood; entertainment competition competition is the key to America's soul.
Andrew Breitbart stood for Truth. We have to restore that truth. We have to restore the truth about God. We have to restore the truth about History. We have to restore the truth in our Culture. We have to restore the truth about our Economy. We have to restore the truth about our Government. The truth can be terrifying, especially at first, but the lies will kill you.
Today, alongside news of Andrew Breitbart's death, you have government officials lying about Rush Limbaugh's comment regarding thisMarxist Skank useful idiot. This kerfuffle, of course, occurs against the backdrop of one of the greatest assaults on faith in American History. Andrew Breitbart did the legwork to excoriate flawed premises like these, while exposing stories others ignored, and it gave him all the right enemies. That's why Andrew Breitbart was one of three people (along with Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck) I trust in my personal quest for truth.
In 1968, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. said:
We are in the earliest stages of the Third Great American Awakening. A MIRACLE of truth is about to sweep this land. When that miracle comes, we will owe it to the foundation Andrew Breitbart helped lay.
A good man; gone far too soon.
Andrew Breitbart; 1969-2012.
Rest in Peace.
P.S. In the spirit of Andrew Breitbart, and new media/distribution models, if you enjoyed this memoriam I ask you to post it on ten Facebook pages!!!

Andrew Breitbart, man, let me tell ya, WHAT A STUD!!!To me, at least, Andrew Breitbart focused on America's core challenges; he didn't react to the news of the day. Andrew Breitbart drove the news of the day. Andrew Breitbart understood that America's corrupt culture and America's corrupt government are the natural result of America's corrupt media. Furthermore, Andrew Breitbart understood that the influence of the entertainment media on America's culture is much more dangerous than the influence of the so-called 'news' media on the government. Andrew Breitbart was committed to replacing both.
As someone who shares Andrew Breitbart's long term goals, I'm often asked if Andrew Breitbart was/is one of my heroes. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. Why Glenn Beck Should Hire Me
Dear Mr. Beck,
I’m writing to request on on-camera position with GBTV; together we will destroy Hollywood’s corrupt aristocracy.
Electoral Politics and Legislative Process is a trap; entertainment is the key to America’s soul. For at least fifty years, the conservative movement has fallen for a giant misdirection; we’ve bickered at the edges of bad legislation while abandoning the entertainment landscape to the secular-fascist left. Entertainment competition, whether it’s in the form of original scripted programming, self-reliance instruction, or other formats that lay a foundation of truth will advance our cause more effectively than ANY politician. Even when Ronald Reagan puts Leviathan on a temporary diet, Hollywood’s corrupt influence prevents us from addressing the core pathology. Consider the following:
Without Hollywood, liberalism will collapse; I have the vision, you have the platform.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Let’s Roll,
Adam
Dear Mr. Beck,
Observing our culture and politics, within a context shaped by my personal and professional life, has convinced me destroying Hollywood is a necessary precondition to save America. The day to day content of the jobs I’ve worked has been tangential to that process. To help you understand how I have developed this vision and perspective, I have included this outline in the major influences in my life in lieu of a traditional CV.
Catalog of Influences:
