Jerrod Heard and Malik Jefferson exceed expectations (Week 2)

"To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:"
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Darryl K. Royal Memorial Stadium -- The overwhelming majority of the Longhorn football team failed to meet depressed expectations tonight.  Fortunately, Quarterback Jerrod Heard and Linebacker Malik Jefferson picked up the slack as Freshmen.  The result was a victory over Rice that the vast majority of the team didn't deserve.

Following work, this author returned to the Stadium to find the Longhorns driving.   We'd barely made it back into the Stadium when Jerrod Heard flipped a touchdown pass to Armanti Foreman.  We Wish we'd flipped the recording on earlier:

We'd barely settled in when, OHMYGOSH, Djae Johnson returned a punt for the second touchdown:

No, you're kidding, a third touchdown in the first quarter!

Unfortunately, the second quarter was a dumpster fire where Rice scored two touchdowns.  The Longhorn defense was unable to limit Rice to a three and out and gave up two touchdowns.  Fortunately, Malik Jefferson singlehandedly kept them in the game.

During the third quarter, the Longhorn offense pulled a couple of surprises.  This author was perfectly positioned to witness Jerrod Heard's touchdown pass to John Burt.  Unfortunately, we didn't expect it so we didn't record it,

Then the fifth touchdown on a fumble:

Late in the third quarter, the Horns tacked on another insurance touchdown.

Bottom Line: 2015 Longhorn Football will remain a dumpster fire even with tonight's victory
